The rapid development of wireless Internet technology and the popularity of intelligentmobile terminal is quietly changing the traditional way of our life, and it has extended tothe catering industry. At present, the main consumption of catering industry is youngpeople. Young people’s consumption concept is fashionable and independent, therefore,they tend to choose more self-service meal ordering way. In addition, consumers putforward higher requirements on the humane and efficient of catering industry. In thiscontext, self-ordering system based on mobile client emerge as the times require.Buffet meal ordering system from the point of view providing efficient, high qualitydining services for the consumers, and take full account of the consumer’s eating habits. Solet them participate in the procedure actively, and increase their dining pleasure. Theadvantage of buffet meal ordering system is that it not only reduces the restaurant’smanpower cost, improves work efficiency, but also avoids the waiter’s order error intraditional order mode, enhances the brand image of the restaurant, at the same time,increases the benefit. This paper analyzes the function demand, restaurantmenu and ordering data in consumers ordering process, we regard android mobileterminal as the client-side order equipment, then design and implement the meal orderingsystem based on android platform.Firstly, this paper introduces the background of mobile ordering system, analyzes thepresent situation of research and application of electronic menu and buffet meal system indomestic and foreign. Then I analyze the feasibility and requirement of the orderingsystem based on android. After making clear at the whole work flow of ordering system, Iestablished the function modules of client-side, including user login, searchdishes, order dishes, payment and user evaluation modules. The function modules ofserver-side include user management, electronic menu management, order managementand system management. The next I design the technical proposal I adopt, namely: mixedmode of C/S on the client-side and B/S on the web server-side. I adopt the idea of objectoriented, and use case diagram, static class diagram, sequence diagram of UML to detaileddesign object, process, function and database of each module. In the implementation stage,I adopt Google Android as the development platform, use Eclipse as thedevelopment tool, and Java to development. I choose Android built-in SQLite to storedata. Finally, I do a comprehensive test of the meal ordering system, analyze the testresults and do some corresponding improvement. The mobile meal ordering system based on android not only meets the basic needs ofconsumers for searching food, choose a dish and order, but also provides a seriesof humanized service, such as provides the raw materials, cooking methods, nutritionalvalue of the food. Customer can leave a message to evaluate the food and. Forthe restaurant management staff, the system improves the efficiency of business operationsand reduces operating costs. What’s more, the feedback of theconsumer provides certain reference for them to make a strategic decision.
