This paper is based on the online meal ordering management system as a developmentinstance. It is a specific application of software developing and a practice of softwareengineering course learning. The system is based on B/S structure. Its main function is themeal card and the canteen management, including the management of personnel archives,meal card, customer’s consumption mode, meal types and other related functions. It can beused by the dining personnel as the online meal ordering system. It also includes thecorresponding user query statements and other functions. What’s more, it can be equippedwith a consumer machine for the using of consumer credit card. Only by those who have thereservation can use the card to consume.The system adopts ASP.NET framework for the development. The development languageis C#and the development tool is the VS2003. Through the study on the system, I fully graspthe method of using the various development tools. In-depth study and practical work arerequired in the development of each key technology. The main technical work include theASP.NET environment deployment, database deployment, VS2003deployment, databaseconnection pool configuration files management, software engineering knowledge using,application of the concept of modular software design, special attention to the low couplingamong modules of the design process, software anaphase scalability and easy maintenanceetc.. This system also laid the foundation for the research and development platform for futureupgrades and maintenance and other related applications. The SQL Server2005adopted by thesystem is very suitable for small applications. it showed good applicability, safety andstability in the system application process. The system model is more standardized by theusing of Power Desinger modeling. Thanks to this, the work of system design becomes moreconducive and the database design becomes more convenient.The development of the online meal ordering management system is a practical using ofsoftware engineering. It helps to grasp the knowledge of the mode of B/S. In the design ofsystem function module, according to the demand, the system can be divided into thefollowing four functional modules: the part of the consumer management module, basicinformation management module, management module and statistical report module. The meal ordering management system, which is based on the online meal ordering service andcombined with the meal card management functions, can be used by the internal users todirectly order the meal and pay the money through the web browser. It is also equipped with ameal card management module and user management module in the background. The systemanalysis module can be the statistical analysis for a administrator to improve the orderingquantity. The analysis data includes the time when ordering meal number reaches the peakand the low and so on. According to the analysis, the administrator can reserve materials toavoid the short supply and cut down the reserve materials to avoid unnecessary waste. Thissystem can make the management of canteen become more scientific, normative, andeffective.
