The Information-seeking Behavior Of Visual Artists

This thesis discusses related concepts of information-seeking behavior. On the basis of the information-seeking fundamental research and the related research of the foreign visual artists’ information-seeking behavior, a questionnaire which is designed to investigate how they seek information consists of questions containing dimensions such as information needs, selecting of information source, searching methods. Taking the teachers of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute as the study object, this thesis conducts empirical study with questionnaire investigation and interviewing method. Through statistical analysis of the survey data, we sum up the main information source of visual artists and the way of information-seeking, and analyze the demographic factors influencing on the information-seeking behavior of visual artists, obtain the common behavioral characteristics of the domestic and foreign visual artists and the personality traits as China visual artists. Finally, we analyze the background factors which cause the differences between the domestic and foreign visual artists:the cultural factors, theoretical factors, education system and library services.
