Belt rip is the main failure of the steel cord belt,which leads to significant economic loss.However,the current detection techniques of belt rip cannot prevent it efficiently. Developing a new detection technique to prevent and judge belt rip accurately is still a challenge. A new nondestructive testing method using the technology of ultrasonic automation and FPGA is proposed in this thesis,and the results are summarized as follows:1. The principle and the advantages of the new detection system are analyzed. The parameters and the types of the ultrasonic transducer are chosen and the number of the transducers required is calculated based on the system requirements. The methods to improve the system accuracy and to reduce the error of the system are analyzed.2. Design the pseudorandom ultrasonic signal of Gold codes, the program of cross correlator and UART with Verilog HDL under the circumstance of Quartus Ⅱ.Design the ultrasonic ranging system with the FPGA of Cyclone II,the ultrasonic ranging module of HC-SR04and the LCD1602.Introduce the related module of the system based on Quartus II and finish the simulation.The ranging experimental analysis was held to prove the feasibility of the ranging system.3. Design the FIR filter respectively using window-function method and optimization method with MATLAB.Choosing the optimal filter to filter out the noise after comparing them.Then using the data produced by the MATLAB as the input data of ISE to aid the FIR filter’s design through IP core.Through comparing the filtering effect of the two kinds of filter,verify that the filter designed by the FPGA completely meet the design requirements.4. To get the accurate and comprehensive data, reference to the principle of underwater ultrasonic morphology detection,the reconstruction of the surface topography of the belt are analyzed.The reconstruction methods of the belt are put forward and reference to the principle of phased array imaging,the methods to improve the resolution of transverse and axial are analyzed.
