With the assistance of correct and efficient military plotting, battle commanders can get a clear judgment about the battle, which will be helpful for them to make wise fighting deployment on the basis of reality and therefore, achieve the superior situation and finally win the war. The modern informationized wars (military combat) require the commanding be highly time bounded. Intelligent commanding (assistant) decision making, time-bound commanding control, visual battlefield condition and informationized weapons are the keys to the victory of future wars. Intelligent commanding (assistant) decision making needs intelligence collection to be automatic, informationized and intelligent. Hence, as a key component of informationized, time bounded and intelligent commanding, military plotting techniques come into being.Digital military plotting system is a digital system which aims to accelerate the image formation so as to provide fighting commanders with clear and time-bounded battlefield situation which will enable them to make quick smart decisions. From the perspective of real demand, this thesis mainly makes research on the design of military plotting system as well as related techniques to realize its functions.Informationization of the formation of military plotting symbols and methods of military plotting is the core of digitalized military plotting techniques. Firstly, the thesis focuses on building the military plotting symbol database by collecting and fabricating military symbols in accordance with military standard with current techniques, which will lay the base for introducing the military plotting system. Secondly, on the basis of powerful and flexible programming modes of C#programming language and various and complete components and interface of ArcEngine Development Platform, the author designs a set of digitalized military plotting system, and further, achieves its targets. Thirdly, the thesis introduces in details the major components and interfaces of the software, and lists the functions that enable the system realize its major functions. Finally, this thesis makes a summary of the software after the realization of its system functions, and proposes its assumption about the following upgrading versions of the software.
