During the Anti-Japanese War, Ta Kung Pao had established a team of foreigncorrespondents of high quality for its international report, which included professionaljournalists as well as some stringers and news analysts. Compared with foreigncorrespondents of early time, most of them were likely to be more professional both innews theory and practice. Specifically, the foreign correspondent group were expert inusing diverse report styles, selecting typical topics and expressing in an appealingway.Factors contributed to the formation of this foreign correspondent group comefrom various aspects: social development laying as foundation of material basis,advanced management of Ta Kung Pao create favorable conditions and personalexperience giving them direct opportunities. And in terms of influence, the activitiesof foreign correspondents abroad did broaden the views of audiences, promoteinternational exchanges and provide a reference for the building of foreigncorrespondent group at present.Besides, in order to outline a more comprehensive in-depth picture of theiractivities during the war, this study also attempts to apply some cultural study on theanalysis of foreign correspondent group. It points out that during the war, the foreigncorrespondent group of Ta Kung Pao tried their best to strive for the discourse poweraround the world, carried out a discourse pattern of nationalism and made acontribution to constructing the national soft power of media. They were vital toChina’s Anti-Japanese War and played a huge role in consolidating Chinese force andthe public to achieve ultimate victory in the war.
