The Research On Conflict’s Narrative Feature Of American Sitcom

American sitcom began with the first truly sitcom 《Marry Kay and Johnny》 in1947. It has been more than50years and it has formed its own mature form of expression system, unique development system and narrative strategy. And conflict is taken an important role in narration of sitcom. Conflict is the heart of narrative films and teleplays; it contains both narrative contents and narrative means and skills. The form and origin of conflicts come from lives and provide wide narrative background to the films. In the American sitcom, conflict make up the main key of the whole film. The paper will divide to three parts to explain the narrative features of conflict in American sitcom.The first part begins with the origin of the American sitcom, defines the sitcom and origin, then the category and features.The second part introduces the conflict’s narrative background and mainly analyzes the elements and causes of conflicts in American sitcom.The third part specifically analyzes and explains the conflict narration of American sitcom, and expands the narration from four major factors, that is, story character, narrative plot, the characters and relationships, as well as voice narration.The fourth part starting with the two popular American sitcoms, clearly discusses the conflict’s specific narrative features in the two sitcoms, combination of theory and practice, and in the end, it can understand the main contents of this article.The paper starts with the emergement and development of American sitcom and tries to analyze narrative features of the conflict in sitcoms and then guide the Chinese sitcom to the healthy direction.
