The laser energy distribution is one of the important indicators to the evaluation of laser performance. This paper mainly studied measurement technique of laser energy density distribution based on imaging. the laser energy density distribution provides a reliable theoretical basis to evaluate laser performance evaluation.The traditional measuring method is high cost and complex system, so a laser energy density distribution measurement system based on CCD imaging is designed. The basic principle of measuring laser energy density distribution base on CCD imaging was expounded, and the laser energy measurement model is simplified in a particular situation. The laser spot image and the actual energy data gotten by energy detectors are analyzed according to the model of laser energy measurement, the relation curve of gray value and energy density is gotten, then the energy density distribution can be calculated. Theory of laser characteristics in the atmospheric transmission was studied, the laser energy density distribution was simulated in any position.Using Visual C++6.0development tools, software of the laser energy density distribution was written. Experiments show that this system can measure the energy density distribution with less measurement error. The system is simple and reliable.
