The AQI (Air Qu ality Index) o f a city reflect s th e degree of ai r pollutionin the city. It is clo sel y related to peopl e’s life and health. In recent y ears, du eto a variety of factor s su ch as th e u rban emi ssi on s from i ndu st rial enterpri sesand the exhau st emi ssion s fro m au tomo biles as well as meteorology, livin gand heating in d welling areas, u rban air quality has b een d eter iorating, whi chbecomes a detriment to the li fe o f hu man, plants and ani mals, indu ces avariety o f respiratory diseases, and cau ses seriou s challen ges to the livin genviron ments.Infor mation abou t the u rban air quality, su ch as the concentration o fPM2.5is v ery i mportant for protection o f hu man h ealth. Du e to limit ednu mbers o f air quality mo nitoring station s set u p in a city, the air qualitythrou ghou t the city varies in a signifi cantly nonlin ear way. We do not hav einfor mation abou t the air qu ality over the areas not co vered b y a monit oringstation. We do not have su ffi cient in formation to decide wher e a monitorin gstation sh ou ld be establish ed. In thi s project, we in fer the real-time fin e-grained air qu ality based on the AQI report s provid ed by t he exi sting airquality monit oring stations and t he real-ti me data sou rces r epresenti ng th eurban dy namics. Co mbi ning wit h th e cont ent an d fu nction o f an electroni cprodu ct, we establish a u ser-cent ered websit e for qu ery o f the u rban airquality and d ev elop application s for mobil e p hon es. Produ ct s th at st ore a larg eamou nt of the real-time data and historical data analysi s o f the u rban airquality are able t o provid e th e data su pport for t he management o f u rbanenviron ments. This paper p erfor ms analysis and stu dies o f th e ai r qu ality data andinterface d esi gn on th e web-client and mo bile-client en ds arou nd th erelation ship b etween the air quality data and produ ct featu res. In the earlystage o f the int erface desig n, we carry ou t a competitiv e analysi s o f th eprodu cts o f web-based map s, follo wed by an in-depth a nalysis o f th epreliminary concept of t he U-Air technolo gy dev elop ed in Micr oso ft. Based o nthese analyses, we seek inn ovation and br eak throu gh of th e U-Air desig n forweb clients, and t hen proceed to th e fu nctional desi g n, wo rk flo w d esi gn, layou t and vi su al desig n. U-Air mobil e cli ent are design ed based on the desig nspeci fication s o f the Windo w P hon e syst em co mbin ed with th e produ ct need s,capabilities, and u sage scenarios. According t o the hu man-centered d esi gnprinciples, we per for m the in formation architectu re desig n, interactive pro cessdesi gn, pag e layou t desi gn and visu al interface design for the U-Air pro du ct,and then p erform pr odu ct develo pment and testin g on thi s basi s.The U-Air develo ped in Micro so ft is th e f ir st web-client and mo bile-client produ ct that integrates all the qu eries fu nctio ns into on e-qu eries o f thereal time fi ne-grained air qu ality at a point or in a regio n of i nterest, qu eriesof air qu ality distribu tion o f the whole city, and qu eries of ai r quality dataanalysi s. T his proj ect exhi bits a n ew ex ploration and gr eat ch alleng e for th eau thor. T his paper records so me o f the pro blems th e au thor h as encou nter edwork ing for th e U-Air project, th e author ’s way o f thi nk ing toward s th eproblem as well as the author’s solutions to the problems. On the other hand, the U-Air project not o nly provi des a u ser-fri endly pro du ct for air qualityqu eries, bu t also provid es extremely important scientifi c theor y for solu tion sto enviro nmental problems o f the entire city.
