Dental implant technology is that artificial tooth root made of biological material surgically implanted into jawbone below the gum tissue, and then install the artificial tooth crown onto the root. Compared with traditional method to repair missing teeth, the false teeth repaired by this method are comfortable, beautiful, not easy to loose, good bite and does not affect the adjacent teeth. In recent years, theoretical and clinical dental implant technology has made encouraging progress.First of all, we study the requirement of generating a guide template and design different methods to generate guides according to the different types of guide. The methods are integrated and a frame of guide generation system is presented. Then we implement the system based on the frame.We design and implement a system to generate bone support guide, teeth support guide and mucosal support guide automatically. There are some difficult problems here:1. The surface of teeth or bone is not regular. It’s hard to make the positioning plate both fit to the surface and not stuck by recess of teeth. We process the surface properly by filling the ravine and concave.2. The positioning plate is made from the contour surfaces of teeth surface. We study how to extract the contour surface efficiently. To avoid the complex calculation of surface intersection, we convert the teeth mesh to a volume in which each voxel has a value based on its distance to the mesh surface. The contour surfaces of the volume can be easily extracted by using Marching Cubes algorithm.3. We need to do a lot of boolean operations between complicated3D meshes. Current boolean operation algorithms’result mesh can’t reach our requirement. We study the strategy to keep or discard a cell in the process of boolean operation and come up with a strict method to decide whether a point is in a mesh.
