As the information that everyone acquires will be increase3to4order of magnitude in10years, the3rd generation of mobile communication system (3G) should not be enough forthe rising of capacity. LTE (Long Term Evolution), as the bridge of3rdand4thGeneration ofmobile communication system, can meet the demand of business increasing to a certain extenton bandwidth and capacity. Recently the planning and construction of LTE network has beenlaunched all over the world. In three main technology standard of3G(including TD-SCDMA,WCDMA and CDMA2000),TD-SCDMA is researched and developed by ourselves. Becauseof the smooth evolution from TD-SCDMA to TD-LTE, China Mobile, the largest operator ofthe world, choose TD-LTE as the Long Term Evolution standard to research and developwithout doubt. In this environment, how to construct TD-LTE network better and faster,becomes the task that all of people interest in TD-LTE network planning and networkconstruction will pay attention to.Network planning and design is an important segment of network construction, and alsoan system engineering itself. From research of wireless transmission theory to analysis ofantenna and device index, from prediction of network capacity to detailed design ofengineering, from network performance testing to optimizing of system parameters, all ofthese run through the whole process of network construction. Everything should beconsidered, from the overall planning idea to every parameter for cells. So the design andplanning of the network is a comprehensive technology, need to accumulate knowledge andpractical experience.At the beginning, the paper introduces basic principle and key technologies of TD-LTEby the numbers. By comparing with FDD-LTE, the paper states the advantages anddisadvantages of two duplex modes, and provides a basis for the study of TD-LTE networkplanning.Secondly, based on the characteristics of TD-LTE system, the paper discusses theplanning theory of TD-LTE system in network construction stage. And the paper gives thecorresponding demand analysis method for detail analysis of characteristics and mainlyinfluence factors of coverage, capacity, interference and so on. And we provide some proposalon the paper.On the basis of above work, the paper uses Atoll software as the simulation platform,planed TD-LTE wireless network for university zone in some city and put forward scheme ofupgrading from current TD-SCDMA network and setting new sites to TD–LTE wireless network. Through the simulation analysis and optimization, network achieves the generalplanning target finally. The scheme is proved feasible. This paper has certain reference valueto the network planning and design of TD-LTE wireless network.
