As important and fundamental, traffic survey is the basis of the traffic planning, trafficanalysis, road transport facilities design, road construction and operation, traffic management andcontrol, traffic safety and traffic flow theory. The improvement of modern survey equipment canbenefit theefficiency of traffic engineering.The traffic survey includes the volume of traffic, driving speed, density, OD investigation etc.Due to conventional method of traffic survey, the essay provides a classification methods fortraffic survey based on traffic data format and also takes an in-depth research in traffic surveyorganization. To change the traditional traffic survey such as manual counting, the essay programsan app for traffic data collection on Android. Considered the practical needs of traffic survey andthe dual accessibility between mobile phones and computers, the app has a friendly interface andnumerical visualization of the counting results.
