The advancement of modern industrial automation, especially the rapiddevelopment of control technique, drive technology, computer technology andcommunication technology, makes the control system technology of the cigar ettemaking machine improve a lot. As the communicating bridge between users andmachines, the performance and function of HMI in industrial control are improvedbecause of all above. Now, as one of the best samples in industrial automation,cigarette machine industrial pays more and more attention to the HMI research andapplication. Based on the background, friendly ultra-high-speed cigarette makingmachine HMI is researched and designed from the perspective of users’ experience.On the basis of the analysis to the ultra-high-speed cigarette making machineprocess requirements and control system functions, the performance and functiondemands the ultra-high-speed cigarette making machine HMI should satisfy wereresearched.Aimed at improving man-machine interaction and reducing the failure rate in thepresent ultra-high-speed cigarette making machine HMI, factors affecting users’experience of the ultra-high-speed cigarette making machine HMI were analyzed,including mistakes in the system of HMI, errors of the HMI design enabling users tomake mistakes and whether the HMI is easily used. To improve the users’ experiencequality, three design principles applicable to the ultra-high-speed cigarette makingmachine HMI were brought up. They are error-proofing design, fault-tolerant designand the ease of use design in the ultra-high-speed cigarette making machine HMIdesign.To solve real-time problem, communicating tasks between the ultra-high-speedcigarette making machine HMI and control system were analyzed. Based on that, thedata transfer tools between them were selected.Though the analysis to the performance and function of the ultra-high-speedcigarette making machine HMI, the communicating theory and the research to theusers’ experience, the ultra-high-speed cigarette making machine HMI werepreliminary designed, mainly including menu structure, software architecture andinterface layout. And then some features of the ultra-high-speed cigarette makingmachine HMI were finished in Visual Basic6.0. This is the first time from the perspective of the users’ experience to study anddesign ultra-high-speed cigarette making machine HMI, and a new idea is providedfor the tobacco industry to study and design HMI.
