Remote internet-based experiment has the advantages of open economy, flexibility and convenience. The article describes the design and implementation of an internet-based power electronic remote experiment in two ways which combined virtual and reality. The experiment is come up with client side, server side, virtual simulation side and physical control side, based on B/S (Browser/Server) architecture that allows users to directly access through the browser and to operate experiments and get results. The client of power electronic remote experiment is designed by Flex and embed plug-in into browsers, with beautiful interface and good interaction. The virtual simulation side is made up of a series of computing nodes, responsible for simulation tasks of virtual experiments. The design of physical control side is based on remote control, which uses IPC to control the physical equipments. The communication function of server side based on custom protocol is to transmit of experimental data and tasks.Chapter1describes the study background and situation of remote experiments, proposes the significance of building the combined experiment. Chapter2gives the physical topology, and introduces the design principles of each part. Chapter3elaborates Flex client power electronic experiment plug-in design, data exchange processes and XML custom protocol. Chapter4introduces unified modeling using Modelica language, virtual simulation tools and physical control operation. Chapter5introduces the experiment management functions, experimental processes and comparative results. Finally, the article makes a summary and outlook.
