Chinese calligraphy is an important traditional art form in China, which has more than3000years of history. It has carried traditional aesthetic taste, philosophical reflec-tion and cultural psychological characteristics of Chinese nation. There are lots of valuable digitized Chinese calligraphy resources in CADAL. Sometimes users want to generate a tablet or a piece of calligraphic work written by fa-mous calligraphists. However, some characters had not been written by them or though were ever written but are hard to read because of long time weathering. Furthermore, different works of the same calligraphist may have diverse styles. It is a great challenge to generate a new calligraphic character with specific style. The main work of this paper is as follows:Firstly, we propose level-model and block-model by analyzing Chinese characters, a multi-granularity algorithm is proposed for calligraphic resources acquisition.Secondly, a domain ontology is established to supervise basic resources and to provide significant support for calligraphy synthesis.Thirdly, a novel algorithm is proposed to synthesize new calligraphic characters with specific style. Finally, we design an APP for users to DIY calligraphic characters, the thought of crowdsourcing is used in the APP to improve the efficiency of calligraphic radical segmentation and the expansibility of the calligraphy synthesis system. We demonstrate the effectiveness of our method by showing various synthesized results in the style of different calligraphic works of Liu Gongquan.
