In this turbulent history period, as an important news agency in Shanghai, even in the whole country, Shen Newspaper inevitably suffered from a series of difficulties and setbacks, not only from the external pressure, such as shortages, terrorist attacks, but also from outside threat, such as news censorship, internal personnel intervention. All these factors posed a serious threat for the survival and development of Shen Newspaper.Therefore, Shen Newspaper based on the practical problem and combined its own situation to take the corresponding measures. For example:adopting the system of "practice" among students in recruitment.selecting outstanding employees, providing health insurance,accident injury insurance and other welfare to stimulate employee enthusiasm; practicing enterprise management according to the domestic enterprise’s news agency, paying close attention to the livelihood of people in order to attract readers; encouraging employees to be newspaper salesmen and supplying them with material and spiritual incentive to increase newspaper sales; seeking for external support from trade associations in Shanghai, government authorities and other external support, and so on.It was proved that all these have had good results.Although facing the fierce market competition, Shen Newspaper maintained a leader of Shanghai newspaper for a long time using its own efforts, and on this basis, it also promoted the press a number of innovations, such as:the diversification of the communication and marketing and so on. More importantly, Shen Newspaper revealed the social evils bravely and fight against the adverse phenomenon in the turbulent history environment. It held the public opinion, to some extent, and maintained the social fairness and justice. Shen Newspaper not only saved itself in a crisis, but also as a leader of the press, did play a positive role to promote the industry and social progress, etc.From1945to1949, Shen Newspaper struggled in troubles, but it still could not escape the fate of being flooded by history. On May27,1949, Shanghai was liberated, which made the printing equipment of Shen Newspaper be inherited by Liberation Daily and finally ended its life of half a century. As a news agency, Shen Newspaper was limited by some ways in the social environment at that time, and did some reactionary propaganda under the control of the Japanese puppet army and the Kuomintang. But it did play a positive role to make a contribution to the society and newspaper industry, especially during the time from1945to1949. So, Shen Newspaper’s positive influence and contribution to the society, together with its actively exploring spirit should be respected.
