Wireless communication network technology has greatly changed the common communication style. In the category of newly developed technology, the Wireless Mesh Network has been attracting many concerns both at home and abroad, expected to be one of the5th generation communication technology. WMNs inherit kinds of advantages from its pioneers, with higher bandwidth, simpler construction, lower cost, extensive covers, confident quality and so forth. IEEE802working groups proposed the IEEE802.11s Amendment to IEEE802.11Protocol for Physical Layer and MAC Layer, based on the IEEE802.11wireless local networks, and the protocol proposed is a promising scheme to the WMNs, while the researchers aim at improving the performance of the protocol. It is also, what we do here.Main work of the modification to the protocol lists as followed.(1) Basis of refinement to the routing protocol sub-session of the IEEE802.11s Protocol. Summarizing the characteristic of the mechanism, path selection, path metric in the sub-session helped us confirm potential of improvement.(2) Suggestion of refinement to the routing protocol sub-session of the IEEE802.11s Protocol. On design of promoting the ability in confronting with load-balancing and congestion-control problems, through the determination of target, principles and references, a new model of refinement is established.(3) Test-bed design verification and implementation of refinement to the routing protocol sub-session of the IEEE802.11s Protocol. We illustrated the key steps of achieving the designing model, including the simulation environment, operation guidance, design implementation, and reasonableness tests.(4) Comparison of the simulation tests among the newly designed, original and recently improved protocols. According to the verified simulation environment and the implementation code, we developed a series of comparison among the modified protocols and the origin protocol. The result showed that the design was effective and applicable. The conclusion was drawn simultaneously. The research along with the designing blueprint of IEEE802.11s Protocol, by modifying the design of the routing protocol, aimed at improving the performance of the designing networks in congestion-control and load-balancing. Feasibility and effectiveness was proved through the systematic study and the simulation tests. Due to the platform itself, the design model and implementation is applicable in transplanting into the real test environment.
