As an important component of facility agriculture, greenhouse plays an important rolein agricultural production in our country. Greenhouse provides agricultural crops anartificial, precisely controlled environment. Greenhouse irrigation is an important way foragricultural crops to get water supply. Thus, improving the quality of irrigation is crucial.Currently, the research on the domestic greenhouse irrigation control and managementsystem is increasing; however, the promotion is not successful. The main reasons are asfollows: the most of these systems are inconvenient to be used, the operation of system isunstable,the high cost makes the system difficult to be spread in large area. Based on thecharacteristics of the greenhouse irrigation, according to the standards of ZigBee wirelesssensor network technology that is common used in the agriculture and industry fields, thisarticle presents a ZigBee-based remote centralized irrigation control and managementsystem. The purpose is to develop a general-purpose, low cost, easy-to-use system. Thedetails are as follows:(1) Study on the general design schema and architecture model of greenhouse controland management of irrigation systems. According to the current greenhouse irrigationcontrol requirements and the status of the current greenhouse irrigation control technology;this article proposes the design strategy of an automatic and semi-automatic controlgreenhouse irrigation, and convenient way to manage irrigation model. This model is athree-level model which includes: Data acquisition points, greenhouse group managementcenter and the remote control center.(2) This article presents the basic infrastructure and key technology of the greenhousefield data acquisition and transmission. Analysis of characteristics of greenhouse irrigationcontrol and management system of serial data, provide serial data and Ethernet datatransformation solutions. The ARM9embedded devices is used to achieve the dataconversion between the serial data and the Ethernet data in the greenhouse irrigation controland management system, and to accomplish the data transmission from greenhouse fields toremote data centers and the commands receive of the remote control.(3) Research the key technologies of work together and reliable transfer on a variety ofdevices, multiple communication protocols. We analysis the problems of ZigBee-based greenhouse field parameters for acquisition and irrigation valve control and the TCPprotocol group controller and the remote control center coexistence of the two protocolsvariety of equipment. In order to ensure that greenhouse irrigation remote control systemstability and scalability, analysis and propose a variety of devices and a variety ofcommunication protocols between the cooperative work structure and data transferstructure.(4) Research the greenhouse irrigation remote control technologies and methods tobuild a platform. Analysis web socket technology in HTML5and Android mobile devicestechnical characteristics, building Web-based greenhouse irrigation remote control platformand Android mobile monitoring platforms to reality greenhouse irrigation remote controlautomatically updated, display, data push services and remote management and control atany where.Applied our research to build a greenhouse irrigation management system prototypes.Through the simulation tests and the field tests in the Greenhouse Irrigation ResearchInstitution of the Institute of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences in Xinxiang, Henan,the results show that: the wireless sensor network communication of our greenhouseirrigation control and management system is stable, the data transmission is accurate and thetransmission distance meets the requirements. In addition, the sensor of field acquisitionnode works properly, the irrigation valves are responsive, the access to a remote server isneat and the data can be effectively used and shared. To conclude, our system meets all thedesign and practical requirements.
