Research And Implementation Of Ring Protection Mechanism On PTN Device

Large Scale deployment of PTN devices shows that PTN has replaced SDH networkto become a new generation of carryer network. The rapid increase in the scale of serviceand the incressingly higher standards of user experience for effective service put forwardhigher requirements of survivability and reliability of PTN network. To improve thereliability and survivability of PTN network, protection technology is one of the importantthings to consider.Ring protection technology with rich functionality and features to compensate forlinear protection of the many deficiencies in the PTN field has been the focus of the studyobject. With the increasing scale and PTN network bandwidth, the number of businesseswhich are increasingly bearing the rising presence of less than the original linear APSprotection is gradually revealed. Therefor ring protection technology is raised, which welladapt to the needs of the project-level applications to build more reliable, much strongercarryer networks, is able to adapt to the changes and requirements in the futuredevelopment of the network.A design of an advanced ring protection solution based on Wrapping protection isdiscussed on this paper to meet the requirement of ring label localization. Ring pathcreation and switching mechanism are introduced later, followed the achitechure offunction modules and the test of protection switching time. The ring protection mechanismintroduced could meet the required50ms of protection switching time in engineeringapplication, and is capable to provide effective network-level protection for ethernetservice over packet transport network.
