After decades of development, the electric power system was having been Gradually Improved. With the increasing scale of electric power system, the electric power communication network has enjoyed great development. Smart grid has become a worldwide spotlight as the next generation power grid. For this reason, the scale of the electric power communication network is increasing efficiency, having more communication equipment, having more services, and transmission was becoming diversified. Meanwhile security of the electric power communication network is drawing more and more attention.Power communication which is part of the power industry is affected by the technical development of telecommunications technology. It is an intersection of two industries. PTN developed well in the field of telecommunications network, upgrade and evolution of electric power communication network is also imminent.The paper first introduces the overview of the development of electric power communication network and PTN, and then focus on analyze and study of PTN survivability mechanism, and summarize the main problem of it.After of analysis to PTN ring protection mechanism, advantage and disadvantage of Wrapping ring switching mechanism and Steering ring switching mechanism was found, and the model of wrapping and Steering ring switching protection was proposed in this paper. This model, combining the wrapping ring protection switching mechanism and Steering ring protection switching, not only has advantages which inherit Wrapping ring switching mechanism, like low loss and low disorder, but also has the advantage of low switching delay, which inherit Steering ring switching mechanism.After detailing the IETF fast reroute mechanism and researching of three traditional classical algorithms, a new fast re-routing recovery integrated model was presented, which do well in reducing the packet loss, disorder and the time of recovery.In the paper, OPNET MPLS module which is an Network Simulation software was widely used to analysis and compare different of survivability mechanism models.Finally the author summarized the opinion of the full paper, and put forward the next step on study.
