As China’s investment in the field of scientific research efforts to increase year byyear, the management of research projects are also increasingly demanding needs. Itinvolves researchers information management, organization management, projectapplication, outcomes assessment, outcomes management, management of researchfunding, scientific statistical analysis, patent management, paper management, reportmanagement and other management needs, the traditional approach based on artificialexposure a number of problems, such as loose management, personnel, low efficiency,poor input-output ratio, the lack of standardization, etc., largely restricted to furtherpromote scientific research. So explore new research management methods andconcepts seem significant, that is, this article will introduce advanced workflow modelto the current university research management system in order to improve the aboveproblems. Mechanisms to carry out the management of workflow-based informationsystem for enhancing the current special Chinese enterprises, research institutes,development speed and quality has a very important role. This article will introduceworkflow technology into university research management, in order to link the currentadministration workload, many types of procedures, document exchange frequentinefficiency and other issues. By writing this article to further clarify the workingmechanism of the workflow engine and workflow engine jBPM based software systemdevelopment methodology.Unlike traditional software systems to implement the logic of the process logicand the characteristics of strong coupling, the workflow model will be the twoseparated, only through external software process logic can be individually modified toachieve a new process definition, thereby increasing the flexibility of the system whileimproving the reusability of software components. This selection of the jBPM as aworkflow execution engine, this engine can be achieved based on process definitions,examples, automated scheduling and management. This in-depth analysis of theuniversity scientific research management business processes, identify theirmanagement needs, according to the system involved in character design use casediagram of the system, and the software system is divided into research management,research management, review management sub-module for approval, according to data flow diagram of the logical structure of the database design and the design of thedatabase based on MySQL physical structure. In order to the presentation layer,business logic, data persistence layer separation, the paper used Struts, Spring,Hibernate integration program to implement the whole system, reducing the workloadof design and development, while the system’s performance and stability has beenimproved. Finally, the paper on the system test plan and test results are brieflyintroduced. Through the actual deployment of the situation, this paper developedsystem basically meet the needs of research management business, have a certainpracticality.
