It has been five years since the outburst of global financial crisis. However, this crisiscontinued to impact global economy. As the second largest economy, China’s economy statusand development has always been the focus of media. GDP, gross domestic product, isrecognized to be a representative figure that can showcase the status of one economy. Chinesegovernment will announce its first to third quarter GDP growth in April, July and Octoberseparately. The fourth quarter figure will be announced in January of the next year.Among the GDP news reported by national media, it can be found that journalists tend toexplore more than figure itself, but also report about GDP forecast. Therefore, I choose GDPgrowth forecast to be a representative item when research in forecasting news. To betteranalyze the characteristics and status of both forecasting news in China and the United States,I collected all979news related to GDP in The21stCentury Business Herald and all813newsrelated to GDP in The Wall Street Journal Asia in year2012. On top of comparing basic factsand angles of forecasting news in both publications, there is also evaluation regarding theforecasting figures in both newspapers.
