There has been quite a number of research achievements on music radioprograms both in China and abroad, and these researches mainly focus on theproduction and design of the program, rather than studying its internal language. Asfor the discourse pattern of these programs, the research is almost blank. This paper selects two programs as the target program for contrastive research, one is music radio program named MY FM Night Mood and the other is music TVprogram named I’m a Singer. A comparative analysis is carries out mainly on thediscourse patterns, which is to further clarify that discourse pattern analysis plays aimportant role in the theoretical and practical significance of music radio program. This paper is mainly divided into five chapters. The first chapter mainlyintroduces the Concept and features of music radio program and the correspondingacademic research, as well as the research approach of this paper, and found theresearch blank of this field and the significance of this study. The second chaptermainly analyzes the introduction, elucidation of the theme, transition to anotherviewpoint and summing up of discourse pattern in music radio program, which showshow music radio programs go on the guidance, transformation, promotion, and endingof topics using the discourse pattern of introduction, elucidation of the theme, transition to another viewpoint and summing up. This chapter found that the initialpart of the discourse is mainly the “introduction+elucidation of the theme” model, the middle part mainly “elucidation of the theme+summing up+transition to anotherviewpoint (introduction)” model, and the ending part mainly “introduction+summingup” model. The third chapter made a comparison on the different mode between themusic radio program and music TV program, which obtained the the similarities anddifferences on the discourse patterns and discourse types of these two kinds ofprograms, including language vacancy, scenario vacancy,“introduction, elucidation ofthe theme, transition to another viewpoint and summing up”, turn-taking, topic change, style, etc. The fourth chapter analyzes the discourse pattern strategy of music radioprogram, which holds that the program should design topics artfully, composediscourse elaborately, conclude the topics concisely in the aspect of introduction, elucidation of the theme, transition to another viewpoint and summing up; and shouldscreen and deduce the key words in the aspects of topic change; and should alternate speed, speak smoothly and keep appropriate silence in the aspect of tone. And the fifthchapter is the conclusion of this paper, which generally introduces the discoursefeatures and strategies of music radio programs. This paper takes the language of music radio program and music TV program asthe corpus, and takes comparative study and analysis as the means. One of theinnovations of this paper is choosing interdisciplinary field the predecessors seldomdabble in-journalism and linguistics-to do the comparison and analysis, whichbreaks through the confine of the previous single domain. In another word, this paper,to some extent, filles the gaps in this filed. Because of the less number of the programand the limitation of corpora, some viewpoints mentioned in this paper still need to betested and verified in further practice.
