The Study Of The Interactive Design Of Tablets For The Elderly

With decreasing birth rate and progressive medical services, the trend for an aging world isfurther aggravated. According to the second national population census report, China is the onlycountry in the world with an aging population over100million. By2010，The number of China’saging population over60has reach178million，accounting for23.6percent of the world’s total.As China has stepped into an aging society, the proportion of the elderly consumption in thewhole market share expands gradually.As the society develops towards more eiffcient and intelligent, the production design for theelder user should integrate intelligence and humanization to help the elderly to adapt to the fastpace of life. This dissertation ifnds its footing in the current development of tablets which enablepeople to cope with various matters in daily life，work and entertainment and thus become moreand more welcome. Some survey indicates that the elderly prefers tablets to laptops, for whichthe reasons are that the elderly people can fulifll search through simple touch or voice input.The natural touch screens interface, thin and light body and well-designed system make thetablets easily accepted by the elderly. However, tablets on sale for the elderly weight more on thenumber of software and information capability rather than on the research of the interactivedesign’. Employing the fundamental theory of products interactive design，the research subjectintroduces to the interactive design of the tablets for the elderly people as its thesis on the basisof the elderl’y users psychology, physiology, knowledge attainment and operational environment.This dissertation summarizes the design principles of the proifle, interface of tablets for theelderly and the interface of the programs to conclude the theories of interactive design of tabletsfor the elderly as well as to establish the fundamental theory of design and development of theelderly production.
