With the development of information technology, computing is becoming ubiquitous and there is an increasing number of computer users. In many cases the users are neither computer professionals nor domain experts, and they use a software system mostly for their lives instead of for their work. Therefore, during the development of the application, the proportion of user interaction becomes higher and higher. The final show of the user interactive behavior of the application is the user interface, which becomes more and more important. In recent years, a lot of model-based interface development environments are appeared. Through the integration of several models such as Mobi-D, Vesuf and so on to model different aspects of the system, we can obtain sufficient information to support the generation of user interface. Generally, these models use dialogue model or task model to describe human-machine interaction .However, these models are too complex to describe the interaction, and the mapping between them and the other model in the system is also difficult to be handled. So it is not fitted to support the design of the interactive behavior of user interface. Therefore, how to enhance the support to the user interaction of application systems and model the user interface simply and intuitively is becoming an important issue during software development process. In this paper, we explore how to model the interactive behavior of applications from the view of the users. Firstly, the problems encountered in the interactive behavior of applications modeling process are presented. Secondly, through the introduction of the status of interactive behavior modeling, the related conceptual model, interface development technology and methods are discussed. The innovation of this paper, aiming at the features of the interactive behavior of the applications and from the view of the user, through the extension and improvement of the UML symbols, advances a interface design model based on user interactive behavior, which is on the foundation of model-based user interface development environment (MB-UIDE) technology, UMLi symbols and Abstract User Interface (AUI) idea. The model includes three aspects: requirement model, abstract presentation model and task model. Requirement model is represented with the use case diagram, abstract presentation model with user interface diagram, and task model with improved activity diagram. The model integrates the static presentation of the user interface and dynamic description of the interactive behavior in a better way. It tries to describe the modeling process of the user interface and interactive behavior of the system more simply and more intuitionally so as to improve the plasticity of the interactive system and enhance the support to the development of model-driven applications. The model can be implemented in ARGO environments based on the extension of UML and a initial concrete interface can be generated after parsing the final last data files. A drawing editor example is given to validate the user interface design model based on user interactive behavior.
