With the continuous development of the Internet, the number and coverage ofnetwork service experience a rapid growth with various applications. In order to ensurethe availability, reliability and quality of the network service and to improve usersatisfaction during actual operation, system administrators need to monitor and analyzeits operating efficiency and status. They also need to maintain the stability of the serviceperformance through effective management.Service performance management technology has gradually changed from thenetwork equipment management to service-oriented management. Based onservice-oriented architecture (SOA), service performance management solutions weredesigned by this paper. A series of technical researches have been done based onmanagement steps and target, which realize data collection, performance analysis anddisplay functions respectively. Main work is introduced as follow.(1) Considering the heterogeneity and flexibility of the current service managementinfrastructure platform with weaker dynamics and evolvability, this paper establishednetwork service management model and service management architecture based onSOA. Binding various basic service units and across traditional management domainboundary, the architecture realizes the service management functions, thereby ensuringthe service quality and building a framework for the implementation of the serviceperformance management.(2) This paper analyzed methods and targets of the service performancemanagement in-depth and presented network service performance managementsolutions based on service management model. The ‘three-step’ management steps,namely data collection, performance analysis and performance demonstration wereestablished, providing specific programs for the implementation of the performancemanagement. A technology roadmap was also established.(3) This paper designed the service performance monitoring system based onperformance management, which transforms the service performance surveillancetechnology into user perception service from equipment management. Based on SOA,meanwhile initiatively finding and dealing with performance from abnormal (such asservice response time is too long) as the starting point, the performance management isa technology composed of the flow paths from data collection, performance analysis,problem alarm and problem solving. On the basis of the individual components ofperformance management technology, the service performance monitoring systemrealizes data collection and performance analysis by collaboration, thus is used tomonitor the running status and basic properties of the network services. The systemcould also be integrated into the performance management system, thus support the flexible system integration and steady business evolution.(4) Discover algorithm of the dependency of service performance and resourcebased on ant colony algorithm was presented. This is applied to understand the intrinsicrelationship between the changes of service performance and related resource utilization,to verify the accuracy of the service performance monitoring and to find courses ofperformance degradation from the point of view of resource management, whichprovides the basis of the following service performance optimization such as resourceallocation adjustment. As has been assessed, the algorithm effectively improve the hitrate of service performance associated resource discovery, at the same time avoidingperformance degradation as a result of a large number of redundant packets sent to thenetwork.(5) A prototype system of service performance management with a three-levelstructure is designed, service performance monitoring system as the core layer. Systemis divided into resource management, performance monitoring and performance layer.Service performance monitoring software modules were developed, which realized theperformance data acquisition, performance analysis and display of several typicalnetwork services.Under service-oriented architecture (SOA), the network service performancemanagement features, methods and steps to be analyzed by this paper in depth. Aperformance management solutions proposed and designed to monitor the system wereimplemented by this paper, so that the service performance management from thetraditional‘device-oriented’to‘service-oriented’. This provides a reliable basis forservice expansion, performance optimization, fault diagnostics and troubleshooting inthe next step.
