Human-machine interface (HMI) is the media and conversation interface oftransferring and exchanging information between human and machine, and it is anindispensable part of industrial automation systems. With the growing of HMI’s market, the functionality and performance of HMI is continually improved. In this paper, acharacter Human-machine Interface based on Cortex-M3is designed and realized. Thisproduct has been recognized by the market. The HMI’s system architecture which includes the product’s overall framework, functional and performance requirements is analyzed by this thesis. The hardwareplatform is designed with the idea of modularization based on the architecture. Theplatform mainly includes power module, MCU module, UART transfer module andhuman-machine interaction module. And design method and circuit diagram of hardwareare presented in this paper. According to the functional requirement, the framework ofoperating environment which includes overall framework, task management, datastructure, and software architecture is analyzed and devised. The operating environment isdivided into three modules which are configuration module, communication module, andhuman-machine interaction module. The thesis explains the necessity and implementationof protocol reconfiguration, which is one of key technologies. At last the product is systematically tested and test results and analysis are presented.Through the results the conclusion could be drew that the product’s hardware is welldesigned and software is stable and real-time. And functional requirements and industrialdemand are met. At the end of this thesis, the work is summarized and the thesis putsforward the future development and prospect of the character HMI system.
