No matter developed countries, newly industrialized countries or developing countries, digitalization is spreading around world. Smart home electronics, digital video/audio devices, intelligent buildings, communication products, digital-control machines, PDA, intelligent search system made us feel the improvement of the information technologies and small-sizing, flexibility and high-efficient of digital electronics. Upgrade of varies digital products have been view in every field. Within a few years, the world stepped into the information age.When using digital products, such as computer, touch-screen searching terminal, and mobile phone, we have an impression of the outlook of these products plus software interfaces. HMI (Human-Machine Interface) is getting "soft" , which means the interfaces tend to be more reasonable, flexible and comfortable to operate. HMI is the interface of human being with the machine. It is a critical portion to allow people to use the information products. Industrial designation transfers the high-tech into commercial products, which includes functions and culture information. This thesis will be based upon MP3 devices to analyze the interface elements of digital products.The first 2 chapters of this thesis will introduce the basic theories about the digital product interface designation, analysis the interface elements, overview the hardware and software interfaces. Chapter 3 and 4 will focus on the example of an entertainment device, e.g. MP3 Player;combine with HMI designation to direct the functionality design. Detail design and development of digital device from HMI will help people to homogenous-use of the products and build the "Based upon user" product image. By analyzing the machine, user and environment effects of the digital device example, MP3, this chapter will describe in details of the design theories, procedures and basic tests of the MP3 Player. A couple of typical designed models are listed at the end of the thesis. It will be the conclusion of the interface elements of digital device designation. Even though the conclusion of the research have not included all of the digital products, the concepts of interface, the analysis procedures and the consideration methods will be generic, and will be able to help for the relevant research in the future.
