Multimedia technology and embedded technology has been widely used by people.People hope that communication devices have more and more functions. But thequantity of the fixed telephone’s function is poor. Because the fixed telephonecommunication has many advantages. For example, the communicating information issecure and the signal is stable. The embedded microprocessor has powerful dataprocessing capabilities. So the connection between fixed telephone communication andembedded microprocessor can provide fixed telephone with multiple functions. Theresearch of fixed telephone based on embedded technology is becoming popular.This paper first describes the background and the significance of smart fixedtelephone. Through the market research and the analysis of customer needs, thefunctions and the performance of the design have been established. The smart fixedtelephone has these functions, such as high capacity storage, playing audio and video,surfing the internet, taking photograph, fixed telephone communication and playinggames. According the functions and performance, the design established the hardwarearchitecture.Then the paper describes the hardware system design in detail. The design is basedon the microprocessor S5PV210which integrates the ARM Cortex-A8. The processorhas many interface modules. Using these interface modules, the paper designed datamemory circuit, program memory circuit, SD card interface circuit, USB interfacecircuit, audio circuit, display circuit, touch panel circuit, camera circuit, internet circuitand fixed telephone communication circuit. Then the paper analyzed the power need ofeach circuit module and designed the circuit of the power supply.Finally, the paper described the design and debugging of printed circuit board.From the result of the debugging, the hardware design has met the functions andperformance. Power supply modules can provide stable voltage and current. The papermade the smart fixed telephone come true.The innovation of this paper is that fixed telephone communication is connectedwith embedded technology. The fixed telephone is more intelligent with multiplefunctions. The new design of the phone can be dialed with touch panel instead ofmechanical buttons.
