Nowadays, more and more technologies come into people’s daily life, in garmentfield, virtual fitting technology brings a more convenient and interactive fitting way forpeople. Kinect can be used to get a person’s body information in the space, so it is usefulfor developing virtual fitting system. This paper designs and realizes a kinect-basedvirtual fitting system.This paper does a research in design and implementation of the virtual fitting systemfirst. This research includes three steps:First step is the study of the system development environment. In this step, thispaper analyses and discusses the software and hardware development environment.Second step is the study of the virtual fitting system architecture. In this step, thispaper analyses the modules of the system, designs the system architecture and plans themodules’interaction.Third step is the study of module design. In this step, this paper designs the systemmodules and discusses algorithms which have been applied in some modules.Then this paper does a research in coordinate transformation algorithm based on siftand presents own algorithm to improve the speed of sift.The research result of this paper is a model of virtual fitting system. This system candisplays fitting results, saves fitting results, takes pictures and has a shopping cart.The work of this paper is a significative exploration for the commercialization ofkinect-based virtual fitting system, and its studies in software development methods willbe useful in future software development.
