Virtual walkthrough and Human-computer interaction technology are not only an important branch of virtual reality technology, but also the key to realize "immersion" and "interaction" of virtual reality system. Traditional walkthrough and human-computer interaction require expensive special equipment, which not only increases the burden on the consumers, but also disadvantages to wider application of virtual reality system.This paper carries out reseach deeply with human-computer interaction and walkthrough technology in desktop virtual stadiums system. Based on the current new type virtual reality modeling language X-VRML to build virtual scene, the introduction of a virtual avatar technology, and using the mouse, keyboard,combined with Java3D technology, to control avatars to do dynamic walkthrough and interact in the virtual stadiums, which enhance the interactivity of the system, improve the interest of the user in use and the system energy.Firstly, the paper analyzes modeling structure and modeling methods of virtual stadium based on X-VRML in-depth. On this basis, the paper gives a virtual stadium walkthrough system framework based on avatar, and emphasizes the planning path on the walkthrough,scheduling scene,collision detection, and the X-VRML and Java3D interaction.Secondly, the paper simplifies the human avatar model, refers other avatar model construction, designs avatar model structure in the virtual stadium and gives the definition of the corresponding X-VRML. The paper uses keyframe technology in the cartoon design to achieve behavior control of the avatar, imports the avatar model and the X-VRML descriptive document into Java 3D development platform, and achieves interaction and control with users and avatars, avatars and virtual scene object based on the mouse and keyboard.Finally, the paper gives the solutions of the stadium walkthrough system implementing process to key issues, including the virtual scene parser process,automatic walkthrough path planned algorithm,interior scenes optimal scheduling algorithm and the collision detection algorithm based on bounding box.
