With the rapid development of science and technology, people have a strong demand foraccessing information. Relative to the Internet, television and other forms, as a very importantcommunication tools, the smart phone is not only getting more and more powerful, but alsohas an advantage of accessing and processing information anytime, anywhere, so it graduallybecomes an important means for people to access information.Recent years, Android system has a good openness and convenience features, so it play amore and more important role in the field of smart phones. The smart phones which adoptAndroid system have attracted attention of more and more people. Considering the broadmarket prospect of Android, this paper will take Android system as the research object and onwhich the application is developed. This paper first studies the status of the development of smart phones. Then the systemarchitecture of Android is analyzed, the Android application components and Activity lifecycle are deeply analysis, the Intent resolution process, processes and threads, and theinterface structure of application are detailed analysis. On this basis, the details needs ofordering system are given, the structure design, technology selection and the functionalmodules design of new ordering system based on Android are conducted; the design andimplementation of kernel-module that includes menu module, order module and back-enddatabase of the ordering system are completed. The ordering system includes client and server side. The client adopts Android platformwhich is based on the Linux operating system, the application using Java language, and couldbe running on the dalvik virtual machine which is specially optimized for mobile phones, thedata of client is stored using sqlite database. The server uses IIS+ASP and the server-sidedatabase is sqlserver2000. The communication between client and server uses the HTTPprotocol and the data exchange is XML data. Finally, the testing on ordering system is completed. The test results illustrate that thefunction of each module in the system is operating normally, and has good interaction, stability and real-time. Therefore, this system has broad market prospects in the restaurantindustry.
