Maintaining balance is a basic function of the human body, many motions are based onthe complete balance function. As a hot research in recent years, human balance includes itsmechanisms and theory exploration and analyzation, balance testing, indicators evaluation,rehabilitation and training, etc. Existing access to the dynamic process of human balance datais usually measured by test live volunteers or patients. Although the measured data can beauthentic, there are shortcomings, such as the dependence of the test equipment, consumemanpower and material resources, and maybe some security issues. Based on the simulationof human balance research, it entirely depends on computer simulation software. It is intuitive,clear, and saves a lot of manpower and resources; meanwhile, it is more targeted and has moresecurity.This paper is a research on human balance focusing on upright body, which builds threeupright body models and establishes three balance controller models based onSimulink/SimMechanics. In the posture of static upright, it simulates the dynamic process ofthe center of gravity (COG) adjustment to maintain standing position and without falling.Specifically,(1) By the single inverted pendulum model with the PID controller simulation, itascertains the three parameters of P, I, D their respective roles under the corresponding model,and discusses the different influence of the change of body height and weight parameters tothe balance response as frequence and regulation time.(2) Refine the human body model from an inverted pendulum model into a twomulti-link inverted pendulum model controlled by a PD with time delay controller model. Thesimulation determines the variation rules and scope of model parameters with the regulationtime further, so that it can be easy to simulate balance by parameter adjustment of differenthuman body.(3) Considering the nonlinear in the process of human body balance, a new kind ofintermittent feedback controller model is established. The controller controls the double inverted pendulum model, which can effectively simulate the process of human balanceregulation law, and the simulation results are more realistic, the data obtained through thesimulation is closer to the actual body measurements.(4) By appropriate design of the experiment, the actual data of process of the bodybalance is collected, which proves the above-described simulations are correct and rational,and makes the simulation more convincing.In summary, this paper uses different models of the human body models and controllermodels to simulate and analyze the human upright balance dynamics. The simulation followsthe physical principles mechanism of the human body balanced, and the results andexperimental data are in good agreement. By using simulation it can obtain dynamic balanceprocess data, which provides a data support to the analysis and evaluation of human balance.
