The Plight And Outlet Of News Professionals In The Early Period Of Liberation

After the Liberation War, Xinmin Bao resumes publication successfully. In May1949, Zhao Chaogou returned Shanghai to preside work in Xinmin Bao. But with theestablishment of the new China, the People’s Communist Party of China and the People’sGovernment of China started the adjustment to the postwar China’s economy and cultureand social life. And the news institution was the first to be adjusted. In1953, after firmperseverance without a satisfactory result, Xinmin Bao and Wenhui Bao and some of theprivate-owned news institution finally practiced public-private partnership. So Chinaprivate-owned news institution has become a history formally. By1956, the People’sCommunist Party of China and the People’s Government of China have mainly completedthe socialist transformation. This research starts from the news history perspective andfocuses on the news professional Zhao Chaogou in order to explore why the newsprofessionals’ socialist transformation take place? How does it take place? And what is theresult of it?This research can be divided into three parts. First it discusses the living environmentof the news professionals on three parts----the establishment of the nation-wide newswebsite of the People’s Communist Party of China and the People’s Government of Chinaand the issue of many news-relative regulations and the socialist transformation ofprivate-owned news institution. On that basis, it reorganized the new difficult situation ofZhao Chaogou and the Xinmin Bao in five parts----the difficulty of interview andacquiring news and the difficulty of management of the news institution and the difficultyof writing and review and the sudden change of reader groups and the news-establishmentideas’ in adaptation to the new social situation. Then it discusses the persistent self-rescueof Zhao Chaogou and the Xinmin Bao in the process of exploration in several parts like theadjustment of the news policy and the three times’ revision and the revolution of theleadership system and the adjustment of the editorial department and so on. This part makes1953the boundary and make it clear of the transform of the news ides and newspolicies and the news characteristics; it summarizes the editorial department’s preliminaryexploration before1953and Zhao Chaogou and the Xinmin Bao’s final confirmation of theevening paper characteristic after1953. The third part starts from theory and inspects thetrue motive of the news professionals’ change---the change from private-owned newspaper to socialist Party’s news paper.This research considers that although the People’s Communist Party of China andthe People’s Government of China’s socialist transformation of the new institution beforeand after the founding of the PRC has succeeded in the transform of news professionals, ithas only succeeded in the news organization and news system and news operation. Butthe news idea’s pursuit so the news professionals hasn’t changed at all. Zhao Chaogou andthe Xinmin Bao’s change in the socialist transformation are to find a new way in the newsocial system. It has blended in the socialist news enterprise. But Zhao Chaogou’sexploration of the evening paper theory in the socialist system and the Xinmin Bao’s lateraccomplishment has better explained news professionals such as Zhao Chaogou’spersistent perseverance and final success in news idea.
