Spinning frame is the machine that puts the semi-finished products like roving or sliver into fine cop through drafting, twisting and winding. Doffing is the process to collect filled fine cop on spinning frame and put on atc. Conventional doffing is the manual process to pull full bobbin and change over empty bobbin one by one by hand.It’s the trend of spinning industry in the future to realize the automation and intelligent of spinning workshop with the decline of profit margins and the rise of labor costs in the spinning industry.Based on the analysis of automatic doffing spinning machine control principle and system structure, the paper has designed and implemented the automatic doffer controller on the basis of a processor based on FPGA, and selected models for the hardware system of the control system. According to the requirements of the doffer’s technology, the paper respectively has completed the sensor data acquisition, UART serial port data movement signal transmission and motor control interface design, and done all kinds of sensor module and application of various types of motor movements test; and expanded the automatic doffing car capacity for exception handling, and finally got the integral design of the automatic doffing car control system hardware, and completed the work of printed circuit boards. Finally, under the QuartusⅡ9.0development environment, it has written the underlying driver of hardcore program modules by VHDL language and done a simulation verification of each module; and in the NiosⅡ9.0development environment interface with C language written the SOPC underlying soft nuclear program; and passed data debugging and acquisition of the control system and the basic function operation test of all kinds of motor control. The overall debugging has been done at the scene of the spinning workshop under the bad environment, and the final debugging results show that the automatic doffing car’s design has advantages which are small, intelligent, low-powered, environmental and so on. At the same time, this automatic doffing car was exhibited at the2012Shanghai international convention and exhibition center and won the recognition from professionals at home and abroad.
