Traditional LED display control solutions can not keep up the pace of the development. Many technical staff began to use the new technology- SOPC. SOPC technology is first proposed in 2000 by. U.S. Altrea Company. It is a new technology integrated with the hardware and software technology. It can quickly integrate the hardware and software system (including microprocessors, memories, peripherals and user logic circuits, etc.) on a programmable chip in order to achieve the system IC design. And this design approach has short development cycle and the system can be modified and so on.This thesis introduced a kind of new LED panels control solution. The Mainly control unit use one CycloneⅡFPGA EP2C35, which is popular in current industry control field, and use the 74LS595 as the LED display driver chip. The experiment result according to this system shows that it is a good solution with the characteristics of simplified circuit, conveniently control, stably display and good effect.This thesis first described the LED's construction principle, module, and classification. Then takes monochromatic dot matrix display screen (red) of the 16x16s in this system as template, gives out the analysis of this system circuit, the principle of displaying Chinese character or figure on LED screen , also discussed how to make screen display more stable and clearer. Then use SOPC Builder to customize the hardware system and the design of hardware inputs, compilation and simulation. Finally, use Nios II IDE to achieve customizing and debugging software systems, introduces the algorithms of the IP core, which is the main control unit, and researches the functions.
