With the rapid development of civil aviation transportation business, the aviation safety accidentsfrequently caused by the road surface damage happen frequently, and road surface damage hasbecome a threat to the safety of the runway. Road surface detection has become an important researchsubject. To solve the problem of high cost, operate difficultly, can’t monitoring continuously ofexisting pavement test equipment and methods, a new runway surface Rayleigh wave healthmonitoring system based on the wireless sensor network (WSN) technology was designed, which canprovide a new solution of road surface detection.The system is mainly composed of a WSN and a computer monitoring center. According to thetest object, a design scheme of the system has formulated and a detailed hardware and software designof the system has already given. Based on the study and analysis of several typical wirelesscommunication technologies, ZigBee was chosen to build the WSN. Various sensor nodes of thenetwork realize the function of monitoring the runway, and the detection results were sent to thecomputer monitoring center by WSN.Processing the data using the transient Rayleigh wave detection theory and According to the datafrom the adjacent sensor node obtain the Rayleigh wave phase velocity by cross-correlation and-ptransformation, which can get the dispersion wave of the corresponding Rayleigh curves. We canaccurately judge the position of pavement surface damage by it. Finally this system get a good effectthrough doing a simulation experiment.Compared with the existing runway incursion prevention systems, this system has many merits,such as economical, practical, easy maintenance, configurable and high flexibility, which can obtaingood social and economic benefits.
