As rapid developing of multimedia communication and video codec technology, wirelessvideo monitoring system based on various coding algorithm is widely used in intelligenttraffic system. In view of the present situation of long coding time in audio and video data andlow real-time video image, setting application background in emergency vehicles monitoring,this article does a detailed study in critical theories of H.264motion estimation algorithm,multimedia data processing technology, and the wireless network transmission and so on.H.264video coding algorithm is optimized and applied in development of vehicularwireless video surveillance system by this article. Via streaming media technology, replicationdistribution and comprehensive application of video resource is realized by using the highperformance of the DaVinci DM6446as the hardware platform of audio and video dataprocessing and applying RTP/RTCP streaming media transmission protocol for managementof transmission quality and control of information exchange between processes. And finalimplementation is real-time monitoring of road traffic, the driver behavior and vehicle internalenvironment and the audio and video data is transmitted to the monitoring center through the3G network.Based on the H.264coding algorithm and basement of DM6446-4C-WCDMA,this topiccomplete the following work: First, motion estimation algorithm of threshold coarse searchcombined with rhombus elaborate search is mentioned for the motion estimation part ofH.264video coding technology, which solves high complexity, low real-time problem inoriginal H.264algorithm (FS) and is able to ensure the quality of the image that means SNRvalue equal to original algorithm. After then software is being developed based on DM6446platform.In order to verify the utility of system, the long time test is took under driving circumstan ces by using China Unicom3G core network, vehicular DM6446front end, monitoring management platform and monitor display device. And the test proves the possibility of the systemstability and large scale deployment.Based on the improved H.264algorithm, vehicularwireless video surveillance system with combination of video codec technology, mobilecommunication technology and high performance multimedia processing system DM6446improves performance of the real-time video monitoring, presents a broad market prospect inintelligent traffic, public security, logistics and other fields and has a very importantsignificance.
