In recent years, as the rapid development of computer technology, network communication technology and multimedia technology, embedded IP network surveillance system has become the trend of surveillance system. Under such background this thesis implemented a wireless IP network surveillance system which is based on TI's DaVinci platform.The core technology of this system is DaVinci technology. DaVinci technology includes high-speed processors, DaVinci Software, DaVinci development tools and components. It is an innovation of digital multimedia technology: DaVinci technology innovatively imports embedded middleware into DaVinci software. Based on this mechanism, Davinci system can almost seamlessly call various algorithm packages that conform XDM standard and effectively use on-chip resource; Davinci hardware includes a powerful and efficient ARM9 + DSP dual-core processor, efficient audio and video processing subsystem and rich peripherals resources (NAND Flash, 256MB DDR2 memory) etc. All these features make the product prominent in surveillance applications that require high real-time and large data processing.The development of system is based on DaVinci platform. This thesis completed the design of system's hardware and software. In hardware design, video capturing and coding module, audio capturing and coding module and network transmiting module were implemented. In software design, an audio and video codec algorithm package that conform the XDM standard was built, and a Codec Server according to the practical application of the system was created. Besides that, other work such as setting up of embedded development environment, downloading UBOOT into the NAND Flash and porting Linux Kernel to DaVinci platform were completed. Additionally, the RALINK 2573 USB wireless network card driver was compiled and integrated to DaVinci platform. The thesis also summarized the main points in system developing. The performance of the system were tested and analyzed.
