A variety of network application services are emerging with the construction of networkinformation, meanwhile, the complicated business flow is also generated, it leads to thedistribution, complexity, noncooperation and isomerization of the network is more and moreobvious. Due to the traditional network measurement methods are restricted by safety factors,they can only measure the network performance within their power, thus, academiccommunication provides a new network performance measurement method--networktomography (NT). It can obtain the link information through sending multicast probe packetsproactively, and it applies statistical inference method to get the delay, loss rate and topologystructure of network. Affording a new technology mean to inferring network performance of alarge scale network.This paper introduces the concept of network topology visualization, starts with the basicprinciple of NT technology, analyses network topology inference algorithm and linkestimation algorithm based on NT technology, and conducts a realization of graphvisualization based on NT technology through infusing traditional network visualization. Themain work of this paper is as follows:(1) Firstly this paper introduces packet loss model and0-1loss sequence,and thenintroduces the concept of hamming distance,helping to inference network topology. In theprocess of sending probe packets, it is random and discrete while packets arriving atdestination nodes, it provides a trial to network topology inference. On the basis of originalinference algorithms that based on loss rate, this paper conducts a more effective and moreaccurate node correlational computation by using hamming distance for the loss sequence.(2) In the chapter three, is introduces the traditional network topology visualizationtechnology. Network topology visualization technology is a process that displaying thenetwork model and its relationship in the form of graph, that is making the network topologymodel mapping in the geometrical space. through making data modeling to the each elementof network and graph distribution algorithms of topology, realizes the visualization ofnetwork topology.(3) This paper applies the traditional network topology visualization technology to NTtechnology, makes the visualization correspond the standard of NT technology to assist theNT technology research. In the chapter four, it mainly introduces the visualization research oftopology inference algorithm based on NT technology. Taking example by traditionalnetwork topology visualization technology, it conducts a research in three aspects: datamodeling based on NT technology, providing a G-BHC algorithm according to the BHCalgorithm improvement, and the automatic generation and drawing of topology graph. Finally, it uses C#to achieve the visualization software of topology inference—topology generator,and realizes the manual drawing of measured topology and the automatic drawing of inferredtopology, and then complete the visualization implementation of network topology inference.This research will provide a trial basis to the network management tool which used todisplaying network.
