Field video monitoring is a crucial symbol for intelligence and information of modernagriculture. How to get the video information opportunely is the most important problem tobe solved. At present the field video monitoring system often has two ways to transmit thevideo date. One is wire transmission, the other is GPRS. The way of wire transmissionbrings much problem such as equipment installation、wiring、blind angle in monitoring andso on. And the GPRS only provides a low transmission speed. To solve the problems, fieldvideo monitoring system is designed based on embedded CPU core S3C6410and3Gmodule, in order to construct low-cost, compact-structure and high-performance videocapture system in field.Main studying work and conclusions are as following.(1) The advantages and disadvantages of field video monitoring system was found outunder studied and analyzed current situation at home and abroad. This paper raise videohardware system plan based on S3C6410, USB camera and3G module according to thedemand of current field video capture.(2) Under considering various factors such as cost and performance, the hardware andsoftware platform was chosen. This paper decided which type of CPU, camera and3Gmodule to use. And decided the transmission mode of3G, and concerned the embeddedLinux as the operation system in arm board.(3) Embedded Linux operation system was transplanted. The BootLoader wascompiled, and the root directory of Yaffs2was made. The Linux kernel was also been cutand operated. The transplant task was finished at the end.(4) Mjpg-streamer video server was transplanted into ARM developing board. Settingup WEB server realized the function of video capture and transmission on the ARM board.The task of the drive compiling and transplanting of3G module was made. Script waswritten to implement the function that the ARM board and connect the Internet by3G.(5) The VPN server was constructed. The PPTP application in ARM developing boardand ppp-mppc-mppe patches for pppd was installed. The dial-up script was written toimplement the function of the ARM developing board dialing-up to the VPN server.(6) The system was tested under three conditions. One was to test the performance of system without the limit of transmission rate using the wire transmission. Another one wasto verify the feasibility of the system under a same network model as WCDMA. The lastone was integration test. Experimental test showed the field video monitoring system wasstability, and image which it captured was clear. Purpose of designing this system wasachieved, and provided foundation to next study video capturing system in field.
