With the rapid development of electronic information technology, video monitoring,video image acquisition and processing has been widely used. The Embedded system hasthe characteristics of small volume, low power consumption, high processing speed,strong scalability, etc. Combined embedded system with image processing, this paperdesigned a video image acquisition and processing system based on embedded platform,in order to meet the needs of outdoor equipment condition monitoring system whichrequires high real-time performance and low cost.The system consists of a camera, development board based on ARM11embeddedchip and the video image acquisition and image processing software system. ChoosingS3C6410high-speed processor based on ARM11architecture as the hardware platform,extended LCD interface, serial communication interface and interface of image sensor,etc, equipping the system with CMOS camera OV9650as image data acquisition device.Chosen Linux operation system as the software platform, compiled cross environment onPC, configured the Tslib library, transplant the Qt/E, constitute the system applicationsoftware integrated development environment jointly. Developed a graphical userinterface based on Qt/E, through user interface manage and invoke the video imageacquisition and processing functions; developed the video image acquisition and imagepreprocessing procedures, realized the geometric transformations of image magnification,reducing, suitable for screen and rotating, programming to realize the digital imageprocessing algorithm such as image grayscale and binarization processing, imagesmoothing, image sharpening, etc.Experimented the developed device, the results show that the system designed inthis paper realized real-time image acquisition and image processing functions, and hasthe characteristics of high real-time performance and low cost, can meet the outdoor equipment such as grounding state real-time monitoring needs.
