Augmented Reality Software System Design And Research Of Children’s Book

Augmented Reality (AR) is a novel research direction in recent years, combinedwith related technologies, such as computer vision, computer graphics. With the rapiddevelopment of smart phones, which is a representative of mobile smart devices,augmented reality technology has been in a gradual transition from the traditional PCplatform to mobile intelligence platform. Augmented reality could be applied in manyareas, among those, orientation in paper books faced mainly in children educationdeserves a research. This paper, against limitation on contents and interactions oftraditional paper children books, studies an augmented reality software system orientedin children books, which is combined with mobile enhancement technology andmultimedia technology. This system aims at the special application point of specificchildren users and children books, and paper children books are virtual-real-mixedmultimedia enhanced with unique interactive mode and contents. Capturing the imageof paper book content through cameras, the system identifies and tracks the target imagemainly in the tracking and matching method based on natural features, thensuperimposes stuffs related to books contents above the real scene screen, such asthree-dimensional model, small interactive games, as well as video embedded in of realscene, has the children books multimedia enhanced, improving children’s cognitiveeffects of the books’ contents：1) Augmented reality presentation and interaction manners based on mobileplatforms are studied, as well as beneficial exploration in practical use of mobileaugmented reality.2) The main contribution and innovation of this article are: Aiming at the specificchildren users, using mobile augmented reality as the core technology, it enhancesvirtual information of paper children’s books by the virtual-real-mixed way.3) The contents of enhancement include superposition of high-qualitythree-dimensional model, interactive games, play of embedded video.The variety of ways media enhancements, is a helpful supplement of thesingleness of paper children books’rendering way, and has practical value.
