The Design And Implementation Of A Freight Transport Information Management System For Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport

The logistics industry grew fast during the past decade. In the globalization era, thecost-cutting information-based management technology gives air freight transport anedge on the competition of logistics industry. Air freight transport is playing a moreimportant unique role in the logistics industry. As soon as the air freight transport centerof Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport is built, the demand for aninformation-based management system becomes urgent, and also makes ShuangliuAirport have higher demand in the freight information management.Therefore, it’s imperative to develop a highly integrated, extendable, stable, andsafe modern freight transport information management system based on therequirements of the air freight transport center of Chengdu Shuangliu InternationalAirport. The analysis to traditional freight information management summarizes andabstracts the model&structure of this system. The main body consists of goods of theincoming flight, tally, cargo arrival notice, cargo delivery process and the tally of thedeparture flight, documents making, billing, inventory, stowage, handover process, andit also includes connecting flights with file transfer, such as cargo handover process. Atthe same time, it also deals with the unexpected cargo handling, warehouse managementand cost calculation.Mentioned above all, this software could replace the conventional managementmodel with optimized management and better efficiency, which makes ChengduShuangliu International Airport to be more competitive domestically and internationally.This system covers the whole workflow of air freight transport, such as handover offreight, document making and printing, expense calculation and review, storagemanagement, and freight loading and unloading. This system combines with maturepersonal data terminal PDA in logistics industry which realizes the automaticrecognition of information, radio communication and database integration. Thissoftware is a C/S structured application in C#Language. The database of this software,which is set up on SQL Server2008database management system, is a powerfulhigh-efficiency database that fits actual daily demands. In this paper, the design and development process of the system will be explained.
