The3mm up-conversion system can be used to form the array feed subsystem ofmillimeter wave target simulation system. It contains a set of local oscillator frequencymultiplier chain, a set of three-way splitter and three3mm up-converters. Among them,the3mm up-converter is the most important part of this entire system.According to the development of millimeter wave technology at present and theresearch status of millimeter wave up-converter, this paper implements modular designto the entire system based on hybrid integrated circuit. The entire3mm inverter systemis divided into three main parts, namely LO multiplier chain unit, power divider unitand3mm up-converters. In this paper, the design principle, the key technology andways to solve, of which the system as a whole as well as each module, are described.Combined with the technical requirements of research, the3mm up-converter andresearch related to it are described in this paper. Several band-pass filters are promotedwith their simulation and test results, and a W band Wilkinson power divider is designed. As it is difficult to achieve high isolation in W band, the splitter in this paper is realizedin Ku band.At last, three3mm up-converters and related DC power supply are realized in thispaper combined with system index distribution. Every single3mm up-convertercontains frequency multiplier, amplifiers, mixer, filters, and transition structure.According to the estimated targets, a frequency multiplier is used to turnf localto6*f local, it can be used to supply local frequency for the mixer after filtering andamplification. The mixer gives out the output signal that can be calculated by6*f local fIF. At the same time, multiplier, amplifier and filter are tested. Then, wealso accomplish the measurement of the entire system and each part. The test resultsshow that when input power is3dBm, the multiplier can provide a output power at-4dBm, the gain of ALHxxxx is more than15dB, and the insertion loss of theband-pass filter which can be working at W band is about5dB. But, the up conversioncomponents do not meet the requirements of the project technical requirements. Whenthe local oscillator signal input power is3dBm, the frequency multiplier and amplifier are operating well, but the mixer doesn’t work as we want to. This problem is beingdebugged at present. In addition, two local oscillator frequency multiplier chainsachieve excellent targets, which also verifies the feasibility of the presented designscheme in this paper.
