Since the beginning of the21st century, with the communications industry isbooming, the operating bandwidth growing wider and the applications of microwaveband increasingly crowded. As working frequency increases, therefore, the requirementof frequency synthesis device is also improved. Frequency multiplier, which is the coreof the frequency synthesis device, is becoming more and more important. It can reducethe frequency of vibration, extend frequency band, improve working stability. Becauseit has the advantages of the small size, low noise and simple design, it is now beinggradually loved by designers.In this paper, we use the basic theory of frequency multiplier to design a hundredtimes frequency multiplier, whose frequency is from100MHz to10GHz, with the helpof ADS software and Altium Designer software. We use a chain structure that arecomposed of two part of frequency multiplier. In the first part, we design two timesactive frequency multiplier. and design five times passive frequency multiplier. In thesecond part, we use a step recovery diode to design ten times frequency multiplier. Inthe first part, we use a transistor, so that the output signal power can have a gain ofabout10dB, so as to drive the passive frequency multiplier. The second part utilizes astep recovery diode frequency multiplier, it has low noise characteristics. Inconsideration of the loss of step recovery diode frequency multiplier, so we need twoamplifiers in the front of and after the second part. Due to the relatively low frequency,the size of the output of the bandpass filter is large. Using the open-loop coupler todesign the filter, so that the size is greatly reduced. After the second part, we design aparallel coupled line filter. Eventually, the first part can get about1dB gain, harmonicsuppression reached25dBc. The second part can get about0dB gain, harmonicsuppression reached48.302dBc...
