As the development of communication and information technologies, the datagenerated everyday by the society increasing in a geometric ratio. Thus, there is badly inneed of a transmission channel with huge data capacity. In our country, optical fibersconstituted the main avenue of communication. On the other hand, the features ofwireless base station, such as cheaper price, removable and easy to assemble make itmore popular in the depopulated areas and the land with complicated topography or inemergencies. The ordinary communication channels: HF, VHF, UHF are very crowded, and the bandwidth is difficult to expand due to their low frequency, so, the microwavecommunication which use higher frequency become the key to solve this problem. The microwave transceiver has an important effect on the communication propertyas the RF front end. Nowadays, at usual2.5GHz and5.8GHz band, many monolithictransceivers have been developed and produced. On the contrast, there still existtechnical problems to integrate the whole parts of transceiver working at Ku band on asingle chip. HMIC (Hybrid Microwave Integrated Circuit) is the common means tofabricate a transceiver by integrate each functional part on PCBs. Techniques, such asMCM (Multi Chip Module) and LTCC (Low Temperature Co-Fired Ceramic) not onlymade the front end of transceiver smaller and lighter, but also suppressed interface bysimplified the connection among chips and improved reliability because of the compactstructure.According to required specifications and technical conditions, this article proposeda scheme of Ku band transceiver front end based on HMIC. It is consist of frequencysynthesizer, receive module, transmit module, diplexer and control module. Thesemodules are all mounted in a cavity with the size of150mm*80mm*35mm except thediplexer.
