China is the world’s second largest economy, the world’s manufacturing center,RFID technology has broad application in the chinese market. At present, China’s RFIDindustry after years of development, has ushered in the high-speed growth. With therapid development of semiconductor technology, the popularity of the Internet, peoplerecognized RFID products, RFID development cost reduction, emerging newtechnologies and new products. These products are standard in performance and thecompatibility with other aspects had been greatly improved.Now, in our local market UHF reader’s share is relatively small, and most of theproduct’s features are simple and incompatibility between the various standards. For this,we design a cost-effective multi-functional UHF RFID reader based on ARMCortex-A8processor architecture. The reader is used to meet the logistics, retail andother fields of application requirements. The reader can identify two kinds ofcommercial electronic tags, these tags based on ISO18000-6B and ISO18000-6C/EPCglobal Gen2two protocols.The reader can read and write self-developed electronic tagswith sensor function,and increase the one-dimensional, two-dimensional bar codescanning capabilities according to user needs.This paper discusses the status of the development of RFID technology in chinaand abroad and analyzes the existing problems. For this, we designed a multi-functionhandheld RFID reader terminals. This paper outlines a clear framework of readerterminal, and then analyzes the hardware circuits and Firmware firmware of the reader.We use a modular approach to the design of hardware and software, and the hardwarecircuit can be divided into the smallest system module, UHF reader module, powersupply modules and interface modules. In software design, this article will focus on thedesign and implementation of Firmware firmware sensor function. Finally, the softwareprogram has achieved these required functions after commissioning, and we form thesefunction into API. Ultimately, we successfully add the reader module to the handheldmulti-function terminals and achieve the overall objective of the thesis.
