Virtual reality is a technology that make the corresponding image through the device displayed into the human eye so that people could have a similar experience to the real environment.It combined with optical,electronics and other disciplines.It has widely used in the aerospace,education,medical,entertainment,military and other fields,and even will subvert the usual pattern of many industries in the future.This paper firstly introduces the virtual reality,then lead to the two key equipments of virtual reality.One is the head-mounted display,another is 360 ° panoramic camera.Then research and sum up the two devices,and finished the design of optical system.During the design of virtual reality head-mounted display optical system,the vector aberration theory of the off-axis optical system and the free surface theory are analyzed,to provide theoretical guidance basis for the design direction of optical design process;And complete the design of free-form prismatic head-mounted display in final.In the panoramic camera design,the non-similar imaging principle and the effect of anti-remote optical system are analyzed,then complete the panoramic camera optical system design.
