China has the huge cultural heritage and we need to protect them as fast as possible. Cultural heritage is our common wealth, so all of our society need to spare no effort to take part in the protection. The media can play an important role in the protection by their advantages and agenda-setting function. As a typical case of the cultural heritage, the Grand Canal, which has a long history, includes both the material cultural heritage and the intangible cultural heritage. With the background of applying for world cultural heritage, this thesis focuses on the paper media in Zhejiang and tries to analyses the report status about the Grand Canal in Hangzhou, and the role of media in cultural heritage protection. How can the media take part in the protection effectively? And how can the media call for social public to participate in the tide of cultural heritage protection? They are the thesis tries to explore.
